Nursery

In Nursery we help each child to develop holistically.  We encourage children to be a part of constructing their learning and development by enabling them to become curious learners and proudly take ownership.  Our children become engrossed, excited and enthusiastic to explore and learn.

We ensure this takes place by following the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and structure our learning and planning alongside our termly topics, which includes:

  • This is Me – Autumn Term 1
  • Autumn and Winter – Autumn Term 2
  • On the Move – Spring Term 1
  • On the Farm – Spring Term 2
  • Traditional Tales – Summer Term 1
  • All Creatures Great and Small – Summer Term 2

The EYFS curriculum consists of seven areas of learning:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

During their time at Nursery our children follow a play-based curriculum. This takes place through a range of stimulating and engaging activities which allow children to explore, communicate, question and develop their understanding.

Our children are filled with fantastic ideas and knowledge and much of this is captured through photographs and observations which are shared with parents. We enjoy celebrating children’s hard work, progress and milestones. Some of this is done through our ‘WOW’ cards which parents can send in to celebrate their child’s achievements whilst at home.

Each child is given a key person who has the responsibility of ensuring that children feel safe and secure and supporting them in their development whilst being a safe point of contact for parents.

During the summer term, our main focus is transition. We understand how important it is for us to ensure that all of our children get a smooth start into their school life and settle quickly into Reception Class.
